Due Dates:

  • September 8, 2017 - Topics    - Please submit 5 areas of interest with two questions/ topic.

  •  September 29, 2017- Research - Students must investigate the topic of their choice and find 25 facts in at least 5 seperate resources of which only 3 may be websites.

  •  October 6, 2017- Hypothesis -the hypothesis should state what they think the outcome will be and why they believe this will be the outcome.

  •  October 20, 2017- Plan -  students must show a detailed plan of what they will do to test the hypothesis.

  •  December 9, 2017- Observation/Data -December 6, 2016 students must list 10 observations they made while performing the experiment and develop rough drafts of how they will display the data on graphs/charts.

  • December 15, 2017- Conclusion - December 13, 2016 students are to list 10 facts that they learned about their topic.

  •  - Abstract - students are limited to 100 words to explain thier project. They may view an example at www.scitecfestival.org

  • September 29, 2017- Pre Approval Forms - due to PRSEF for projects with bio hazard materials or human/animal testing subjects. Forms are due to Mrs Martin by September 29, 2017

  • January 11, 2018 - Science Fair at Our Lady of Fatima -  we will have judging by outside sources. If you know anyone who would be interested please let me know. Judges do not need to have science backgrounds, they only need to be inquisitive. Students qualify for PRSEF by scoring an average of 90% for 6th grade, while the top 20 from grades 7 & 8 will represent Our Lady of Fatima.

  • January 18, 2018 - Student Registration for PRSEF

  • March 23, 2018- Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Pittsburgh Science Center and Heinz Field.

The following due dates are for the 2013-14 Our Lady of Fatima Science Fair. As you may notice they are much earlier than in past years. This is because the registration for Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair date is now in early January. All students will recieve registration packets for PRSEF  to make completing the paper work easier. We will complete most of the forms in class and send them home for parent signatures. I strongly discourage the use of animals and any chemicals that would be considered hazardous because they need approval of veterinians or qualified scientist. Before choosing a project you may want to check with me or  view the PRSEF website at www.scitechfestival.org to ensure that students do not need special signatures.

Students will receive a packet that has all important information and due dates.
